Neon Garage at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Client: Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI)
Location: Las Vegas, NV
50,000 s.f. of ground level garages and amenities with a 52,000 s.f. upper level viewing deck
THE ASSIGNMENT: SMI wanted to create an entirely new concept in NASCAR racing by providing fans with controlled and unprecedented access to the LVMS infield garage areas, drivers and crews, throughout the event.
THE SOLUTION: After extensive code research and interface with officials due to the unprecedented nature of the project, aiDG conceived and designed the Neon Garage on the LVMS infield. The nearly three acre open-air fan amusement area, enclosed by four separate garage buildings arranged in a diamond pattern, is accessed via a below grade pedestrian tunnel with escalators and stairs on either end.
The amenities include a central, open-air tensile structure performance pavilion, two separate elevator towers, souvenir/concession buildings and a large, open-air bar with 180 linear feet of bar top. Ground level windows provide views into the garage bays and pass through openings allow for direct interaction between fans and the drivers/teams. The second level walkway provides continuous full height windows, with views down into the garage areas, shaded by overhead tensile structure canopies.
Technology includes interactive kiosks providing continuously updated driver/team location and event information as well as LCD screens throughout for uninterrupted viewing of action on the track.
